We use story for many different things. Entertainment would be the key reason as to what and why we use stories. Majority of the time, stories are to be used for entertainment purposes, for the audience to enjoy and express their emotions either it be laughter or sadness.
Education also is a key reason what we use stories for, to teach people (mainly youths) the norms and values of life. Teaching them the consequences for bad actions. For example, The Boy Who Cried Wolf is a great story for education of the youths as each time the boy cries he loses trust with the village. The when a real wolf came, the young boy dies because that time when he cried wolf the villages didn't believe him. The morals for this story is to not lie to others as they may be sever consequences for it. This also ties in with Morality and principles since this story is teaching others the morals and principles of life.
